Discover Cuneo

Cuneo is known as “La Grande” (the big one) for being one of the largest Italian provinces; established in 1859, it is also among the oldest.
Cuneo province enjoys the beautiful scenery of the Cozie and Maritime Alps to the west and south, and the beautiful hills of the Langhe to the east. The centre opens onto the plain, with stunning valleys where the rivers Po, Tanaro and their tributaries flow.
The valleys Po, Maira, Varaita, Grana, Stura di Demonte, Gesso, Vermenagn and Pesio are only some of the many in this green province. Alba, historically called the city of a hundred towers, still retains three medieval ones. Its land is known for its wine and truffles, celebrated every year with the Tartufo Bianco d'Alba National Fair.
Bra, Fossano, Mondovi, Savigliano and Saluzzo are the largest municipalities in the province of Cuneo.
On a plateau is Barolo, once the Seigniory, as the two castles “della Volta” and “Marquesi Falletti” testify. The latter dominates the town and has a farm life exhibition on its upper floor and the Regional Barolo Winery in its cellars. Besides producing the world famous Barolo DOCG wine, this town is known for other products: breadsticks, “Meliga” pastries, hazelnut cakes and cold meats. Canale, another town where the wine is sovereign, houses the Roero Regional Winery. Also famous for its peaches, Canale holds a festival in July with songs and dances.

Vezza d'Alba is an excellent starting point for walking the Roera paths, which form a splendid nature route.
Other towns that will enrich your visit to the Cuneo province are Treiso, a village in the lower Langhe, situated at the meeting point of five hills; Verduno, called "the sentinel of the Langhe" due to its geographical position; Serralunga, and S. Stefano Roero with its fortresses; Santa Vittoria Alba and Santo Stefano Belbo.
Montà, an important communication link between the Borbore Valley and the area of Canale; Govone with its castle, Cossano Belbo and Cherasco, Castellinaldo midway between Asti and Alba, Neive in the Barbaresco lands.... there are many reasons for calling Cuneo province “the big one”!
