Set in the Tuscan Maremma area, in the Cornia Valley, and more specifically in the town of Monterotondo Marittimo you will find “Poggio di Clara”, a 19th century farm house, refurbished with maximum respect of the architectural criteria in the territory. It comprises 6 independent apartments, subdivided in two or three rooms each. Outdoor, a swimming pool, barbecue, wood-burning oven and arbour within a large park/garden.
As one exits from the apartments, the constant call of nature is evident: the soft curves of the land, characterized by the spaces along the path of stones, thereby discovering the multitude of flora and wildlife.

While walking outdoors one is accompanied by vegetation that defines the various areas of the garden: aromatic plants that, with their perfume and many colors, characterize the space near the house; all amidst the surrounding panorama constituted by the typical and spontaneous vegetation of the “macchia mediterranea” (Lentisco, Ginestra, Viturbo). All this with different varieties of roses underlying the presence of restful spaces.
Idleness in the open air is surrounded by small hills. The arbour and the swimming pool are other meeting places for fun in which the possibility of swimming in fresh waters and sun bathing, surrounded by the smell of rambling roses, create more occasions for rest admiring a part of Tuscany different from that which is commonly known, but strongly tied to the sentiments respecting men’s “lives” in their own land.

Use of garden chairs and beach-chairs to relax in the park with century old trees.

medieval towns,
archeologically historic areas of interest,
thermal baths and an extraordinarily
beautiful sea.
In this corner of Tuscany one is aware of the harmonious life between sea, nature, art and history.
The cultural interests are evidenced by the medieval and Etruscan towns of Castagneto Carducci, Suvereto, Campiglia Marittima, Massa Marittima, Poputonia and the Gulf of Baratti, all still clearly conserving their high walls and fortified buildings.
The area of the park/garden is seen as a sequence of soft lines, from which the beauty of the local stone stands out. These stones have great significance as it is the same stone that farmers removed from their land in order to cultivate it and now, with great fatigue, have been dug up from the surrounding woods to render homage to man’s work.
We suggest visiting the nearby
National Parks of Montioni, Rimigliano and of the Sterpaia to discover the suggestive Val di Cornia. Very interesting is the archeological Park of Baratti e Populonia where it is possible to visit the ruins of the Etruscan/Roman city of Populonia.
In this particularly suggestive panorama, one can do Trekking, go horseback riding and take lovely walks. One can also chose from various towns in the Maremma such as the Abbies of San Galgano, San Giminiano and Volterra, or reach in less than one hour artistic towns such as Florence, Pisa, Sienna and Lucca. One can also organize an excursion to the nearly Island of Elba.
