PORDENONE | FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA

Discover Pordenone

Guide to vacation in Pordenone
Discover Pordenone - Guide to vacation in Pordenone

Pordenone province is part of the autonomous region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The heart of the city is Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, with its palaces and numerous arcades. Among the noblest buildings to be seen on a walk around the city is Palazzo Ricchieri, home of the Civic Art Gallery.
Frescoed palaces embellish the historic centre of Pordenone.

Visit the Friulian Dolomites Regional Nature Park in Pordenone province. The Friulian Dolomites Regional Nature Park is bounded by the Tagliamento and Piave rivers. The environment is wild and still unspoilt due to the scarcity of towns in the vicinity.
Another “green corner” in Pordenone province is the Forra del Cellina Nature Reserve. It takes the form of a canyon, one of the most beautiful in the Italian peninsula.

Among the towns in the province of Pordenone is Cordovado, in Latin Curtis de Vado, which means ‘the court near a ford’. In addition to visiting the charming town, try a taste of Spaccafumo, a typical local cake based on dried fruits and honey.

Your trip to Pordenone will not be complete without a visit to Poffabro, or ‘the blacksmiths’ lawn’, a town steeped in history and legends about iron working. The town’s distinguishing feature is its architecture of hewn stone and wooden balconies, simple materials that create surprising results.
Those with a taste for special drinks should try the typical Pordenone Malbech and Tocai grappas, both single grape varieties.
Do not leave Pordenone without visiting Valvasone. Food lovers will be enticed by Valvasone’s excellent cheeses; history lovers by its medieval castle and late fifteenth-century cathedral, and everyone will be enraptured by the beauty of the town.
