Trento
is a monumental city that was an important centre of Christianity during the period of the Council of Trent (1545-1563).
Trento contains frescoed houses, the Renaissance Arbere Palace housing the Museum of Modern Art, the thirteenth-century cathedral and Buonconsiglio Castle.

What strikes the visitor to this area is the way the villages, such as Ala, suddenly appear among the great heights.
Worth visiting are the seventeenth-century Gresti Palace and the de'Pizzini Palaces, symbols of the wealth of the silk industrialists. Ancient tomes, manuscripts ... over twenty thousand volumes are stored in the Municipal Library based in Palazzo Zanderighi-Gresti.
Embedded in the history of the area are the typical dishes of the Trento cuisine, such as barley soup, cheese served with honey, and quince mustard.
Vallagarina is famous for its wines: the Moscato Giallo and Marzemino can be tasted directly from their producers.
The Adige cycling route is a special feature of this area, and runs from the province of Bolzano as far as Verona, passing historical villages, castles, orchards and wineries.

The Adige cycling route is part of the “cycle route of the sun”, running from Brennero down to Naples. To see the beautiful orchards of Trentino at their best, we suggest you follow the cycle route in spring or autumn.
The small town of Cavalese is also in the province of Trento, where one can visit the beautiful traditional houses around the square, the church of San Vigilio, the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme, the church of Santa Maria Assunta and the Banco de la Rasòn. Not to be missed is a walk to the Antica Segheria Veneziana (sawmill).
Trento’s fruit is the apple, made into delicious jams as well as the Trentino speciality: apple strudel.
