Where we areAt the border between the Chianti area and Valdelsa lies Barberino and its sourroundings. Gentle hills covered by vineyards, olive trees, centuries old cypresses and oaks merge in a beautiful and unique landscape. the peculiarity of Barberino is also given by many medieval villages that dominate the valleys all around and kept unsullied their charme and their store of history.
Barberino. Its center, dating back to the Middle Ages, has the typical structure of the villages of that historical period: at both ends of the main road the ancient doors can still be found. They were the only access to the fortified village and led to Florence and Siena.
Sant'Appiano. Village dating back to the Etruscan and Roman age. Petrognano. it is what is left of Semifonte, a village pillaged and destroyed by Florence back in 1202 A.D.
Tignano, founded in 1000 A.D. is one of the few totally fortified villages still intact.
Vico is famous for its noble buildings and Linari a still fortified ancient village.
