The houses have been fitted with all modern amenities that have become necessities, even within ancient walls. The three farmhouses all have their own private garden with tables and chairs for meals outside.
Golf: the golf course La Montecchia is at a 3 minute walk from the castle.
Tennis: the tennis court is at a 7 minute walk from the castle.
The Pool: The estate of Montecchia borders on the Golf Club Montecchia, literally 2-3 minutes from each of the houses. Use of the swimming pool belonging to the Golf Club is possible, free of charge, from Tuesday to Friday from 10.30 am to 7.30 pm.
The Veneto region has much to offer the visitor. Its ancient cities are rich in history and their magnificent architecture is renowned all over the world. Noble palaces, quiet cloisters and tranquil squares are alternated by bustling streets with elegant shops selling fine goods and colourful markets offering the local delicacies.
The city of Padua, an old University town only 15 km from La Montecchia, is one of the liveliest in northern Italy, rich in art and architecture, with two particularly outstanding sights. The first is the Scrovegni chapel which is renowned for Giotto’s frescoes. The second is the Basilica di Sant’Antonio. Elegant shops and cafés of the turn-of-the-century are nestled into medieval and Renaissance buildings of exquisite beauty.
Vicenza, which can be reached whitin 30 minutes by car from Montecchia, is known as the city of Palladio, celebrated all over the world for its architecture.
Verona, less than an hours drive from Montecchia, is one of northern Italy’s most alluring cities, set whithin the curves of the river Adige. Stylish shops and cafés sit amid the impressive remains of Roman monuments and palaces built of rosso di Verona, the local pink-tinged limestone. Be sure not to miss the Giardino Giusti, one of Italy’s finest Renaissance Gardens.
And then of course there is Venice......at only 39 km from Montecchia.
But you will be surprised by the amount of beautiful small towns you will be able to discover in the Veneto. Lively and busy towns, all of them with an important past and surprising works of art, next to excellent restaurants and very little tourism. Just to name a few: the medieval town of Treviso, built around ancient canals, the pretty town of Asolo in the foothills of the alps, the almost perfect medieval fortified town of Maròstica, Bassano del Grappa on the river Brenta famous for ist majolica wares, the picturesque Vittorio Veneto where Franco Zefirelli shot scenes for his film Romeo and Juliet.
