Castel Pietraio is situated in Tuscany, one of the richest italian regions for its history and traditions, and exactly in the territory of Monteriggioni few kilometres far from Siena and San Gimignano. It stately rises with its ancient walls and towers, withnesses of its glorious past, at the foot of Mount Maggio, in the Sienese Montagnola. It is easy to get there from the exit Monteriggioni on the motorway from Florence to Siena (the so-called Autopalio) and then following the directions Strada Statale n° 541 to be found at about two kilometres far from the old village of Badia Isola.
You can spend romantic stays or just week-ends in the suggestive framework of the artistic and historic Tuscany, sleeping in precious rooms inside a seventeenth century building in the old village of Castel Pietraio. For those ones who appreciate old smells which remind of ancestral memories of wood and resin,of lac and wax, here are the original stone-made tuff plastered walls, the ceilings with chestnut girders and stringers and terracotta tiles, according to the Tuscan Renaissance tradition; the floors reproduce designs of those Renaissance times and the bathrooms suites are made of Carrara marbles with old style fittings.

If you want to spend a holiday immersed in an uncontaminated nature, respectful of the environment,in a place where daily activities follow the rhythm of sun and seasons, Castel Pietraio has got an older part of its building with comfortable elegantly furnished apartments. The place also comprehends the park extending as far as the wood, a 9 x 18 metres swimming-pool with solarium which is open in summer from May 15th to September 30th; the barbecue for parties outside and a children's playground.
Considering its geographical position, the castle is the ideal starting point either for interesting cultural excursions to the nearby Florence, Siena, Colle Val d' Elsa, San Gimignano, Volterra, Cortona and Pienza; or for healthy ecological walks in the woods of the farm where, among spontaneous official plants and shrubs, it is possible to see very rare animal species such as the squirrel, the wild cat, the marten and the badger.
