The agricultural tourist spot “Podere Galilea” was developed through the desire and the passion of its owners for the Tuscan agriculture, both past and present. In fact, the idea was to let its guests get a feeling for the typical tastes and values of farm life of some time ago, whilst having at their disposal all modern day resources and comforts.
The founder of the family, Mario, aged 86, planted the vines forty years ago and the family tradition has been continued by his daughter, Marta, and his grandson, Francesco, who manage directly the estate.
All the members of the family, together with Massimo, who is in charge of the agricultural tourist spot, will try to make guests have as relaxing a stay as possible.
In fact, we believe that the purpose of an agricultural tourist spot is not only to ensure that guests have a pleasant stay in a family environment, with plenty of comforts such as a swimming-pool, a golf course and a spa, etc. but also and above all to give the guests the possibility, when necessary, of a holiday in close contact with agriculture.

The Tourist Farm has various equipment and areas available for all of its guests:
Less than two kilometers away from the agricultural tourist spot you can find the hills of the Montalbano and the wet area called “ The Fucecchio Marsh” in which you can choose to go on easy and relaxing bicycle rides or more demanding excursions with mountain bikes.
Trekking in the hills has been made easy by two recent publications: “Wildlife and excursion map of the protected area of Montalbano”, and that of the marsh “Nature and wildlife footpaths map of the Fucecchio Marsh”.
The agricultural tourist spot is part of an association called the “Strada dell’olio e del vino del Montalbano, le colline di Leonardo” which indicates the major and most characteristic places in the area like farms and wine cellars, bringing out the tourist resources of the Montalbano and showing the most typical pathways of the area. This offers tourists the possibility of tasting typical Tuscan products.
The “Podere Galilea” agricultural tourist spot is the ideal place for anyone who wants to undergo the thermal treatment in Montecatini or Monsummano, adding the tranquillity of the countryside to the effects of thermal relaxation. The Grotta Giusti, in particular, is five minutes away and proposes thermal treatment in caves, a wide use of the thermal swimming-pool outdoors, and muds and aesthetic treatments.
A short distance away, reachable either by bicycle or on foot, there is an 18-hole golf course which stretches amid the surrounding winding hills to the remains of the villa romana of San Lorenzo (Montecatini Golf).
For those who like wing shooting, ten kilometres away, they can find the Sporting Club at Montecatini. Furthermore, one can take part in the wine harvest and the collection of olives in the farm and to taste digestive liquors made from aromatic herbs.
The privileged geographical location of the tourist farm makes it possible to go on convenient day trips to tourism and culture centres and Tuscan cities of art: Firenze (35 min.), Siena (55 min.), Pisa (30 min.), Lucca (25 min.), Pistoia (20 min.), San Gimignano (45 min.), Volterra (55 min.), San Miniato (15 min.), Versilia (50 min.), Montecatini (10 min.), Vinci (5 min.)
Collodi, Pinocchio’s town, is 21 kilometers away and the surrounding hills have many medieval castles, romanesque churches and Medici villas (Artimino, Poggio a Caiano, Quarrata, Montevettolini, Cerreto Guidi). Furthermore, there are plenty of Etruscan remains to see (Artimino and Comeana). The farm is situated near the ancient via Francigena, which is the present-day via Francesca, the historical jubilar road, for pilgrims going towards Rome; there are many testimonies of these pilgrimages.
Those who are fond of Tuscany in general, not only of the classical destinations, will find it definitely evocative to discover the wide variety of medieval castles, Medici villas and churches spread out in the whole area in which we live. These are areas which are not very publicized by the big tour operators, but perhaps for this reason, are more intimate, special and capable of stirring up emotions in those who love simplicity and the poetry of these places.
