Historic outline
Varnello comes from an ancient Celtic word meaning water.
In 1099 a defensive castle was built in the area , then in 1242 it became a Curia, then a Villa and Hospital. After the 16th century this district lost its strategic importance until to-day; nowadays great interest is shown in the uncontaminated rural beauty of the region. Swiming-pool.

Relais Varnello is a farmhouse with arcades and an ancient wood-burning oven, situated in the gently rolling hills of Brisighella in the heart of Romagna, on an ancient Etruscan road a few Kms from Tuscany. It is on the panoramic provincial road between Brisighella (3 Km.) and Riolo Terme (7 km.) and is easily reachable from the motorway.
