We are located in the middle of the COLLINE PISANE (Pisan Hills) on the Strada del Vino (Wine Road).
Around the Ghizzano Village, on a 5-10 minutes drive, in the medieval villages of Valdera, you can find the best restaurants, serving traditional Tuscan food. For the ones who love cooking at home and enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables, there are many markets (I mercati) where the local producers sell directly.
Housing
CASA GUARDIA
It's in the middle of an olive grove, only 3 minutes walk from the Ghizzano village. "The Gamekeeper" was built in the early XIXth century, before all the other farmhouses. It was built as a house who was charged with keeping an eye on the border zone and protecting the land from poachers. Thus the name: Casa Guardia (The Gamekeeper).
THE EXTERIOR
The house is located on top of a hill, only 3 minutes walk from the village. Apart from the olive grove the house is surrounded fruit trees: cherry tree, fig-tree, walnut-tree. The pool is 9m x 4m with a view towards the olive grove. All around the house there are sun beds, tables and umbrellas. Outside the kitchen, at the back of the house, there is a big terrace suitable for dining, equipped with a barbecue.

VILLA DAL GORGO LUXURY HOUSE
Villa Dal Gorgo is situated among rolling hills, cropped one year with wheat, next year with spelt or sunflower; one can reach the Ghizzano village within 15 minutes walk. “Villa dal Gorgo” is also an 19th century house, except that the original structure is not a typical farmhouse structure like the others. At the beginning, it was the hunting residence of Giulio Venerosi Pesciolini, our great-grandfather. He built this house in 1878 as attested by the marble inscription inside.
The villa lays on a 350 m2 surface on 2 floors and accommodates 8 people.
INSIDE
Ground floor: big living room with fireplace surrounded by cosy sofas and a wonderful upright piano; hall; utility room (for laundry), bathroom for the disabled, kitchen very well equipped, dining room. The vaulting ceiling have cross volts and the kitchen benefits from a barrel vault. One can access outside from each side of the house using the patio doors.
First floor: 3 matrimonial rooms ( double bed), one room with 2 beds ( for 2 persons) , 4 bathrooms one of which with tub, the others with showers, living room with fireplace, a small bridge to store the cases, etc. The interior decorations are very exquisite, everything is skilfully decorated, the furniture is all antique. There are ceilings with exposed beams. Tuscan home ceiling design is variously shaped: manmade masonry plaster, tile, and brick in combination with wood structure. The floors are mostly masonry. They make the living room.
THE EXTERIOR
Outside the dining room and the kitchen there is a big terrace suitable for dining in the open and a pool with a Roman staircase. From up here one can watch the spectacular hills stretching towards horizon. At dawn, you can see the deer, in groups or in pair, as this is one of their favorite spots to pass.
SAN PROSPERO & CAMINO
The house is located on the hill, only 5 minutes walk from the Ghizzano Village, through olive trees. In the beginning, it belonged to a farmer, and thus the name "The Colonial House". Such a house was located at the side or in the centre of a field called "podere". The Podere was a piece of land given by the owner to the peasant; the crop was divided among them in equal parts. This system was very common in the last part of the Middle Ages and was called "Mezzadria". Like all the others, the house was built at the side of the piece of land (podere). This allowed people to reach easier the main road and facilitate the crop wagons to get to the market. It was our grand grandfather who, by the middle of the 19th century, built this house and named the place after the saint protector of the crop. Thus came to life "San Prospero".
In order to protect and highlight the beauty of the landscape where these houses lay, we did our best to preserve the original characteristic of the structure: the stables are on the ground floor and the apartments on the first floor with an outer staircase on the side of the house.
We transformed one accommodation into two distinct apartments. The second was named “Camino”, due to a splendid antique fireplace used for cooking in older times.
THE EXTERIOR
A huge garden with fruit trees and cooking herbs surrounds the house; equipped for eating outside. For each accommodation the garden is equipped with barbeque, a big table and chairs under scented tree and a coach house. The pool is 9x4 metres, separated by the rest of the garden by a hedge of “ Fotina” that turns red in spring time. Around the pool, there are comfortable sun beds, tables and umbrellas.
THE INTERIOR
San Prospero: 80 square metres, 4 people, 1 matrimonial bedroom, 1 bedroom with twin beds, 1 bathroom with shower, 1 kitchen equipped with oven, coffeee maschine, dish-washer, moka, living-room with television. The pavement is made from tiled floor, and the roof with beams, girders and joists in sight. The furniture keeps the 18th century style, with original pieces or reproductions. The little balcony opens towards the garden. From the windows you can admire the view of the hills of Volterra. On the ground floor, instead of the stables, a laundry was equipped for the guests.

It was our grand grandfather who, by the middle of the 19th century, built this house and named the place after the patron saint of the crops. Thus came to life “Casa poderale Il Monte & Santa Giulia”.
