Surroundings
Cortona, only five minutes away by car, is world famous for its medieval streets, renaissance palaces, museums, piazzas, and walkways. Many world-famous movies have been shot here, including Roberto Benigni's “Life is Beautiful,” “Sostiene Pereira,” starring Marcello Mastroianni, and most recently, “Under the Tuscan Sun,” which was based on Frances' Mayes novel of the same name (in fact, the author still has a home in Cortona and hosts an annual Tuscan Sun Festival.)
