Places of Flavour and Spirit.
The 2009 edition of “Places of Flavour and Spirit”, has started again; a long journey during which a weekend itinerary is selected once a month and unites 13 inland municipalities in The Marches, sponsored by the Province of Pesaro-Urbino and the Region of The Marches.
“Places of Flavour and Spirit” organises 12 months of itineraries aimed at discovering the beauties and good things this generous area has to offer: from magnificent landscapes and works of art to restored villages and strange and mysterious places on a route that will take you among the flavours and aromas of local products, following a common thread that runs through the towns of Auditore, Belforte all'Isauro, Carpegna, Frontino, Lunano, Macerata, Feltria, Mercatino Conca, Monte Cerignone, Montecopiolo, Piandimeleto, Pietrarubbia, Sant'Angelo in Vado and Sassocorvaro.
The "Romantic Montefeltro" itinerary, proposed for the 14 and 15 February, St. Valentine's weekend, takes us to Sassocorvaro, the town known as the "Sentinel of Montefeltro" and the "Art Ark". Sassocorvaro is closely connected to St. Valentine because the Church of the Trinity holds a relic of this bishop who is patron saint of lovers. After a visit to the patron saint of love and a look at the breathtaking view from the lookout point, you'll be ready for a cosy evening in a local restaurant, the prelude to a night in a romantic inn. The following day the guide may suggest a detour to see a pristine landscape, or to pop into some timeless place, and suddenly from Sassocorvaro you’re at Pennabilli, the home and hideaway of the greatest living Italian poet, Tonino Guerra, who has given true poetry to the town, such as “The Garden of Forgotten Fruits”, or “The Madonnas’ Refuge.”
