The Country Guesthouse Colle sul Lago is halfway between Rome and Florence right on the border between Umbria and Tuscany.
Our hill oversees the Lake of Montepulciano, a natural reserve only crossed by rowing boats inhabited by protected plants, fishes and birds. We are on a country lane that serves two small villages only. The main building is a typical old farmhouse built in the XIX century. It has been restored and refurbished with care a few ears ago.

Where we areColle sul Lago is located on the border between the Umbria and Toscana and has therefore a blessed position for sightseeing. In fact it is at a short distance from Cortona, Montepulciano, Pienza, Città della Pieve, Panicale and Chiusi. You can reach in less than one hour: Siena, Perugia, Assisi, Arezzo, Orvieto and Todi. Some spa towns are very near: Chianciano, S. Albino, S. Casciano Bagni, Bagno Vignone, Rapolano Terme.
Castiglione del Lago (9 km), “one of the most beautiful little towns in Italy”, has a characteristic medieval centre, the Duke’s palace and the Castle, from which a magnificent view on the Trasimeno Lake can be admired.
Not to be missed are also the ferry excursions (always enjoyed by the children) to the Trasimeno islands: The “Maggiore” with the fishermen village and the little Lace Museum, the “Polvese” with its unspoiled natural environment. Alternatively the excursion can be made with a private motorboat company offering a typical fish meal and amusement.
