Il Borgo
Mongiovino castle dates back to 1312, the year in which the Perugian ruling fathers responded to the urgent requests of the inhabitants of S. Martino dei Cerreti for protection against the encroachment of their enemies and the Castle of Montalera.
Built atop one of the hills surrounding the southern shores of Lake Trasimeno, Mongiovino castle is surrounded by 140 hectares of forest, cultivars and olive trees along with five free-standing houses built in the eighteenth century, two of which are located inside castle walls damaged in a 1643 battle between papal soldiers under Barberini and Perugia forces.
The proprietor has endeavored to maintain Mongiovino in its original rustic beauty and wishes to offer his guests a unique stay in a destination so rich in character and local history. Additionally, the wine and reknowned extravirgin olive oil produced at Mongiovino is ICEA certified organic.

The estate is composed of 5 independent farmhouses which have been refurbished preserving the same architectural structure of the country houses of bygone days.
They will meet the expectations of a clientele looking for a holiday immersed in the nature and a splendid countryside.
All farmhouses are equipped with independent metered heating.
