The agritourism "La Luna sul Tevere" is the result of the restoration of the old “casale” conserving the typical rural architectural Lazio structure of XX° century.
The rural landscape and the natural environment, just at 40 kilometres from Rome, are typical of the Roman country and the Tiber valley.
The Agritourism is near “Torrita Tiberina” a characteristic medieval borgo overlooking the Tiber loops.
The name of the village: Torrita, comes from the towers that, in ancient times, dominated “Alsaia” the main road of communication along the Tiber, situated between the Mediterranean sea and the inner areas of Lazio, Umbria and Toscana.During the Roman period, the village was particularly important as a strategic zone between Sabina and Etruria. The archeological remains found near the agritourism testify to the remains of “Villa Celli” built during the first Roman Empire.
At the ground floor, in the ancient cow house there are a comfortable, great drawing room and a kitchen. Here you can taste typical local ancient dishes prepared with the genuine and fresh products cultivated in the farm.
Animals are allowed and paddocks are available for horses.
In addition to the historical fascination, this site is also appreciated for its natural richness.
“La luna sul Tevere” infact, is situated inside the natural park “Tevere Farfa” which, since 1979, protects animals and plants typical of the inner humid areas.
This particularly precious cultural and environmental richness comes from the natural equilibrium between the river and the antrhopic activity.
In the park, it is possible to arrange guided tours, bird-watching, fishing, canoe and boat excursions, trekking, mountain bikes and horseback riding.
