Agriturismo La Topaia, in the 14th Century villa of the same name located 3 km from Borgo San Lorenzo and hardly 25 km north of Florence, is an excellent base for fascinating visits to the main art towns and cities in Tuscany and beyond, while the surrounding countryside provides fine opportunities for all sorts of outdoor sports, leisure facilities and nature trails, making La Topaia an excellent choice for a regenerating holiday in the famed harmony of the Tuscan countryside.
Villa La Topaia, which is celebrated for having provided the backdrop to the tempestuous love story between novelist Sibilla Aleramo and poet Dino Campana in 1916, rises on top of a gentle hill overlooking a small valley where cultivated fields and extensive woods alternate gracefully.
The agriturismo offers up to 18 beds in two flats and three bedrooms
A well kept lawn equipped with chairs and tables is provided for guest to relax in. A little farther are a wooden and stone outbuilding sheltering a large table, a capacious barbeque and a wood burning oven where guests are welcome to cook their open air meals. A ping-pong table is also available.
In our family-run establishment, much stress is laid on providing excellent meals, and when preparing breakfasts and dinners for our guests we make a point of sticking to the rules of wholesome Tuscan home cooking: we choose fresh, seasonal produce; high-quality meat, milk and cheese come only from nearby farms; fruit and vegetables reach the table straight from our own orchard and vegetable garden; wine and olive oil are also local. Natural-rise bread is baked in a wood-burning oven and fresh pasta, cakes and biscuits are home made with our own flour.
