The farm Il Colle of Casaglia family is situated in S. Casciano Val di Pesa and derives its name from its position. In fact, arriving from the ancient road from Florence you can see the farm on a hilltop, between two green valleys. In the past there were a chapel and a house that belonged to the Bardi family, as the majority of the farms nearby. On 13th August 1437 Bardo of Bardi family sold the farm Il Colle to the monks of Certosa for 140 golden florins. After the Napoleonic suppression of monasteries the farm became property of the State. It was later bought by the Casaglia family who built the villa still inhabited by them.
The Casaglia family has always worked in agriculture, in particular vine-growing and olive-growing. Nowadays the family is composed by the father, Luigi Casaglia, the mother, Maria Augusta and the son, Alberto. Luigi Casaglia, historical memory of the family, still maintains the lifestyle of the past and helps the son in the work in the fields. Augusta takes care of the household and Alberto works on the farm.
