The farm 'La Luna' is situated among the gentle Chianti hills of Colli Fiorentini, about 15 km west of Florence.

The farm consists of an ancient central body and a manor villa built by Carlo Allegri at the beginning of the twentieth century. In the nineteenth century, the farm represented the main nucleus of the small village of La Luna, and the viticulture, olive-growing and agricultural activity of the area revolved around it. The farm has been for four generations the property of the Allegri family, which counts some personalities of great artistic talent and entrepreneurial ability among its descendants. Carlo Allegri planned and built some wonderful Tuscan villas; Ugo Allegri, the present grandfather, was the designer and builder, between 1910 and 1940, of bridges over the river Tiber in Rome. He built other bridges in Turin over the Po, in Florence over the Arno and in other minor towns. Period photos representing the building phases of some of these works are shown in the little photographic gallery of the farm.

The estate consists of about forty hectares, of which five are occupied by vineyards and ten by olive trees. The remaining 25 hectares are covered by thick vegetation including some wooded areas, and are populated by small mammals and birds. The old internal paths, still used by local farmers and shepherds with their flocks, make the walks pleasant and full of surprises in every season.

Esperienze

Services in Agriturismo Fattoria La Luna

The wonderfully attractive swimming pool, which is situated in a very panoramic area, appears like a window that looks out onto the green underlying valley and hills that surround it.

During the summer week-ends, you can spend pleasant outdoor, candelit evenings, near our wine cellar. Cold dishes prepared with our own grown products are available along with our own wines. The wine cellar and the adjacent wine tasting bar are two attractive areas that are nicely and comfortably furnished to allow one to taste and appreciate our products with tranquillity.

The Wine cellar, the "Tinaia" (fermenting room), and the "Orciaia" (conservation room), is where our wines and olive oil are produced and conserved, that still use traditional methods that date back over a century.
Particularly interesting is the visit and over night stay in our farmhouse during the autumn season, during which time the guests can observe and, if they wish, can actively participate in the phases of production of the wine olive oil and "vinsanto".

Where we are

Regarding visits to surrounding places, the choices are many. The area is in a very strategic position to allow one to visit many cities famous for their art.

For example, Florence is an obvious choice. Pisa's Leaning Tower is now open to the public. Siena, the city of the "Palio" (traditional horse riding competitions) has been quoted as being where the "best possible Italian" is spoken; Prato is where Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance influences are met with artists of the caliber of Donatello, Giuliano from Sangallo and many others; the medieval atmosphere of S.Miniato is reminiscent of emperors Enrico IV, Redbeard, and Fred II and the unsettled spirit of Pier of the Vineyards.

If one then wishes to travel a bit further to the sea, Livorno is where you can enjoy the whole neighbouring coast from Viareggio to the north to Castiglioncello to the south.
In short, there really won't be time for boredom!
