The Country House “La Torcia” nestled in the Marches region countryside, with its breathtaking views, consists in 5 apartments, ranging in size from 28 square meters to 84 square meters. The Country House is part of the Castle of Loretello complex. Castrum Laureti is its original name. It is a small “rural” castle, the outpost of the larger and more imposing Castle of Arcevia (18 km away). The fact of having preserved almost all of its original wall chain, the access ramp (only entrance way at the time), the outlook and an ancient circular tower – bearing witness to interesting architectural solutions – make this man-made work one of the few examples of Castles of its kind still in existence. If you add to these architectural peculiarities the stunning panorama that can be admired from the windows or the Castle square, or the unique sensations of the nights accompanied by the singing of nightingales or the circling of owls who have elected this ancient manor as their home, you may perceive the magical atmosphere of this singular, special place.

All apartments are present within the rural Castle of Loretello (Castrum Laureti): a splendidly preserved medieval village dating to the 11th century. Overall, the village is made up of 18 dwellings, 6 of which are part of the Country House. As a result, the “Country House” may be defined as a “hotel of widespread hospitality.” Some locals still live within the castle.
The site is far from roads and elevated traffic, and is located 329 meters above sea level. During summer months, it is caressed by soft winds that mitigate the humidity and heat typical of the period.
The Management is associated with a nearby riding stable, and is involved in other initiatives as well: tours on mountain bike, on 4-wheelers, caving excursions at the Grottoes of Frasassi, information on events typical for the area: country festivals, historical re-enactments, etc., which are often held in the summer.
Where we areThe Management at the Country House has selected over 40 itineraries that should satisfy the most varied of needs: from wine and gastronomy to museums, from sacred places of artistic worth to Roman archeological sites as well as an incredible variety of villages, castles, and medieval sites which have made this region unique throughout the world. A few places of sure interest: the Frasassi Grottoes (circa 30 km away), among the loveliest in Europe and the world; the Renaissance town of Urbino (50 km), the native city of the artist Raphael Sanzio; Gubbio (58 km), with its celebrated Corsa dei ceri (folkloric medieval race with statues); Senigallia (30 km), a seaside town; Fano (Fanum Fortunae) – 48 km, a Roman city where the famous Metauro battle was fought. A beautiful town as regards its design, teeming with medieval and Renaissance art treasures, Mondavio (18 km) with its stunning Fortress, the Hermitage of Fonteavellana (28 km), etc.
