Towards the end of the 1700's the farm was built with the left side of the farm characterized by walls of more than one metre in thickness and ceilings raised with cylinders of terracotta with a hollow bottom: it's the ideal ceiling because it is light and full of air. Thisprovides good protection from the summer heat, whileduring the winter it can keep warm air from the fireplaces that release during the night: these are the rooms that are called 'Murgia',(not sure of the word ) of Lama di Luna.

Lama di Luna is a farm of about 200 hectares, half of which are dedicated as pastures while the other half are cultivated with olives, almond trees and vineyards. These all follow the Community laws of organic agriculture; moreover, they are certified by ICEA (an ethical and environmental certification board).
Where we are
Lama di Luna is located at the margins of the Alta Murgia National Park, at the centre of the cities of Andria, Canosa and Minervino.

We are in a territory particularly rich for its natural beauty: infinite beaches 30 km away; the Saltpans of Margherita di Savoia (some of the larges in Europe) which are populated by flamingo colonies; the forests of the Gargano; carsic deep erosive incisions symilar to canyons (gravine) in the area of Gravina; Murgian oaks etc ...

The Norman, Svevian and Aragonese dominations heavily influenced the history of our land, therefore it is absolutely recommended to visit some of the castles, cathedrals, historical centres and harbours, which are numerous on this side of Puglia.

Fredrick II left us many castles, of which the most beautiful ones are Castel del Monte and the castle of Barletta.
The historical centres of Andria, Minervino e Molfetta are characteristic for their narrow alleys that lead to hidden cathedrals and their bell towers.
Trani and its cathedral facing the Adriatic sea host one of the most suggestive harbours in Italy.
Looking back to the second and third century bC, Canosa was part of the Roman empire and it saw the Romans losing to Hannibal's troops at Canne della Battaglia. Today, the vases and amphoras found in the necropolis of this town tell us the story of this period.
Half day or full day itineraries will allow you to see all of this without getting too far away from Lama di Luna.
