Where we areFrom the verdant Friuli plain a rural landscape opens up to view, revealing a place where the spirit is revived by combining the gentle pleasures of country life with the splendour of a bountiful land, the kindness of whose people never fails to surprise. Here stands the Cadorin family’s old farmhouse, whose original essence has been preserved thanks to a restoration in keeping with traditions and natural materials. It has been converted into a gracious residence where guests can enjoy the holiday of their dreams, escape from the city and be assured of a genuinely warm welcome. The loving care taken over every detail makes this farmhouse an ideal refuge for anyone in search of peace and quiet, comfort and authenticity. The “Le Favole” farmhouse is in Ronche, a tiny country village which, since the XIV century, has been home to a huge ceramics kiln complex which produced tiles and bricks until 1957. The small village church dedicated to the Saviour still houses ancient prints of the via Crucis, two wooden crucifixes and an antique tabernacle. Not far from the Cadorins’ house lies the delightful old town of Sacile, known as the “garden of the Serenissima”, poised between land and water and guaranteed to exert a typically Venetian evocative power. In fact, large boats once sailed up the river from the sea, partly drawn by horses, bringing all kinds of goods from Venice, which were then traded inland; they would then sail back, using the force of the current, laden with timber from the luxuriant Cansiglio woods. Sacile is a particularly active town when it comes to summer festivals and events like the centuries old “Sagra dei osei”.

For excursions to other places, Venice is just an hour’s car ride (or train) by car away. The seaside resorts of the Friuli and Venice areas (Lignano, Bibione, Jesolo, Caorle), or the pre-Alps for a hike in the mountains, are also within easy sticking distance. We can organise wine tasting and guided tours of the winery upon request.
The Livenza is a river which meanders along the boundary between the regions of Friuli and Veneto, where the first of the three karst springs emerges from a gorge in the foothills of the Cansiglio park. For anyone who enjoys being close to nature and the sense of wellbeing that comes from relaxing, this oasis of peace also has plenty to offer in the way of long walks and delightful bike rides in search of places whose folklore and food and wine traditions have also remained unchanged.
