The Montalbano Farm is in the municipality of Reggello, between the villages of San Donato in Fronzano and Donnini, just 27 km from Florence and close to the most splendid art cities of Tuscany. At an elevation of 400 metres, behind the slopes of the Pratomagno, it dominates the Arno valley, offering guests scenery of rare beauty.Guests are accommodated in comfortable apartments, sleeping from 2 to 6 people, recently renovated, but which have maintained the atmosphere typical of old Tuscan country houses: stone walls, timber-beam ceiling, the furniture and furnishings are also antique and country style.
And all this while trying to safeguard as much as possible the surrounding natural environment: the hot water is produced by solar panels and the various restoration works have been done using paints and building materials produced naturally and biologically.
All the apartments have private entrance, terrace with table, chairs, deckchair and sun-beds, as well as independent heating in winter.
In the large kitchen of the main house, all the Farm guests can take part in traditional Tuscan and vegetarian cooking courses; an unforgettable experience and, above all, unforgettable eating!
On request, ceramic making courses and painting on ceramic courses can be organised together with swimming courses for children and Italian language courses for foreign guests. In the Fattoria is possible to have breakfast and dinner with the best typical local dishes and very close to us there are a lot of small and typical restaurants and pizzerias serving traditional Tuscan dishes.
The owners, Luciano, Daniela and their children, Elena and Ginevra, farm the lands around the complex with loving care and enthusiasm. These extend for about 30 acres within a protected game restocking area. Three large vineyards, the grapes of which are used to make the excellent Chianti d.o.c.g., the typical white and red Tuscan table wine, sweet dessert wine and a top-quality Grappa, are surrounded by terraces (hand-build many centuries ago and bolstered by stone walls) on which the olives are grown from which an excellent quality extra-virgin olive oil is made.
It is important to remember that Reggello is at the centre of Tuscany and consequently close to Florence, Lucca, Siena, Pisa and Arezzo which, besides art treasures, also offer folkloristic events, religious festivals and antique markets throughout the year. Only a few kilometres from the Farm is the beautiful Abbey of Vallombrosa, surrounded by lots of woodland and a charming countryside as well as wonderful examples of Romanesque art like the church of Pitiana or the church of San Pietro at Cascia.
